HRM 600 Course Project Milestones
- Teams
will complete graded drafts of each module on a weekly basis, except the
HRIS section, which is only provided in the final paper. Content of the
paper will run about 25-35 pages (guideline). Strive for concise prose;
edit for brevity.
- Each
draft will have a primary author.
- Teams
will also complete a graded Team Charter by the end of Week 1.
- In
Week 8, teams will make a final oral presentation of the Course Project,
and submit the Final Paper along with peer reviews.

Week 1: Team Charter
In this section, you will begin your course project, which is to
develop a business plan for a business, that is, the case study for the course.
The first order of business is to join
a team, select a Team Leader and Section
Manager, and create a Team Charter.
Please note: All members will work together on all weekly
submission drafts and the Course Project Final Paper.
Week 2: Company Background and HR Strategy
Download the HRM600 Project Template from the Files section of
the Course Menu. You will see that each section of your paper is provided and
explained there. For your Week 2 draft, you should complete parts I and II (the
Company Background and HR Strategy.) The total of these two sections should be about
5 pages. Include at least two references this week.
Week 3: Staffing Strategy
Complete part III of the Project Template section for this
week’s draft. This section will be about 3-5 pages. Include at least two
outside references this week, in addition to those used last week.
Week 4: Total Rewards Strategy
Complete part IV of the Project Template section for this week’s
draft. This section will be about 3-5 pages. Include at least two outside
references this week, in addition to those used in the last two weeks.
Week 5: Training and Learning Strategy Strategy
Complete part V of the Project Template section for this week’s
draft. This section will be about 4-6 pages. Include at least two outside
references this week, in addition to those used in the last three weeks.
Week 6: Performance Management Strategy
Complete part VI of the Project Template section for this week’s
draft. This section will be about 3-5 pages. Include at least two outside
references this week, in addition to those used in the last two weeks.
Week 7: HRIS, Final Project Synthesis, and Presentation
Preparation
Complete part VII of the Project Template section, and begin
project synthesis. There is no draft due this week. The HRIS section will be
about 2-4 pages. Include at least two outside references this week to
information about your two compared HRIS vendors or software packages. These
will not be scholarly resources, but links to actual company websites about the
software or package used.
Work together as a team on synthesizing the project.
Prepare your presentation PowerPoint, and practice the team
presentation. Each team member must have a role in the presentation.
Week 8: Course Project Final Paper, Peer Review, and Formal
Presentation
Submit your Course Project Final Paper and deliver the
presentation according to your Professor’s timelines provided in course
announcements. See the grading rubric in the Files section of the Course Menu
for grading point allocations for drafts, final project, and final
presentation. Each student must also fill out and submit a peer review
document, providing feedback for all team members (self excluded).
WEEK 1 COURSE PROJECT TEAM
CHARTER
Your Professor
will assign you to a Team. Watch for an email or check Course Announcements.
Read through the entire Course Project item in Introduction & Resources,
and become familiar with the Project guidelines and deliverables. Download the
Project Template and Project Grading Rubric and review.
Team Charter
Download the Team Charter Template from the Files section of the
Course Menu, and as a team, complete the Team Charter.
Begin work on the Company Background section of the Final Paper.

Submit your Team Charter for grading when finished.
WEEK 2 COURSE PROJECT
Company Background and HR Strategy
Drafts
Two members of your team should work on these sections – one
each. The entire team, however, should contribute to the decisions on HR
strategy, culture, and choice of metric method. These decisions will impact the
entire project. The drafts are due at the end of this week. Please consolidate
the two pieces into one submission.
One member of your team must submit the completed Company
Background and HR Strategy drafts for grading. Make sure you include the names
of all team members assigned to your team in the title page of your submission.
Use the template for this submission (and all submissions).

assigned to your team in the title page of your submission.

WEEK 6 COURSE PROJECT
Performance Management Draft
Create the Performance Management Draft section of the Final
Paper.
One member of your team must submit the completed Performance
Management Draft for grading. Make sure you include the names of all team
members assigned to your team in the title page of your submission.

WEEK 7 COURSE PROJECT
This week your team works on the final parts of the project: the
HRIS piece (included in the final project only) and the presentation.
For information about what to include in the HRIS portion of the
paper, review the template for the paper project, which you have been using all
term. Note this portion will only be graded one time (in the final plan), and
therefore has a few more points allocated than do the other parts. (See the
rubric).
Download the PowerPoint presentation template from the Files
section of the Course Menu, and review the tips in the Grading Rubric, and the
Course Project Overview area. Also, carefully read the grading rubric for the
presentation, so you know upon what aspects your Professor will be grading.
Your final paper, presentation, and peer review will be due in
Week 8. See the Syllabus or your Professor’s announcement regarding the final
due dates and time for your presentation.
WEEK 8 COURSE PROJECT FINAL
PAPER
1. Edit and synthesize your HR Plan.
Editing means to consolidate and organize all parts of the plan.
Use the template and create a professional document. You can create a logo for
the final paper if you desire. Review the grading rubric one last time and be
sure all parts are present! Teams may want to post the final version in the
team area in the Files section of the Course Menu so that everyone can be sure
the right version is being submitted. Once verified, the team leader should submit
the plan.
All teams MUST use the template documents in the Files section
of the Course Menu for all deliverables.
2. Submit your HR Plan:
- Have
your team leader upload the final plan to your team’s area in the Files
section of the Course Menu and submit for grading with the title Course Project: Final Paper.

WEEK 8 COURSE PROJECT PEER
REVIEW
Each team
member must complete and submit a peer review for every team member. Download
the template, fill it out, and submit.
Note it is a weighted template with formulas, so just follow the
instructions and it will work out to a number no more than 75 points for each
student.

WEEK 8 COURSE PROJECT
PRESENTATION
Finalize
your presentation and submit it before the deadline given by your Professor.
You can create a logo for the presentation if you desire, Your Professor will
need it to load to the presentation area. For campus students, be sure to have
your presentation ready and in usable format for the live presentation.
- Your
Professor will schedule the final team presentations.
Your professor will provide information about the virtual
meeting room for live, virtual presentations and will work with the teams to
schedule your presentations. Live presentations on campus will be scheduled by
your Professor. See announcements and emails for more information.
