MATH 260 Week 7 Discussion
This
week, we will explore a variety of integrals. Here are some questions that we
will discuss in the thread this week.
- What applications can you find either in
your program of study or elsewhere that require integration to reach a
solution?
- How do we recognize an integral whose
solution will be a logarithmic form? How do we solve such an integral?
- How do we use the formula for the
integral of ex to integrate functions of this form?
- How do we use the basic trig integration
formulas to integrate more complex trig functions?
- What role does substitution play in
integration with logarithmic, exponential, and trig forms?
- Why is
calculus, and in particular, integral calculus, the foundation for the
study of physics? In other words, why did Sir Isaac Newton develop
calculus?
Please
use examples from your homework to illustrate your answers.
MATH 260 Week 7 Lab
Instructions
Please
click on the link below to open up the lab. It will be in the form of a MS Word
document. Please complete all parts of the lab and note that there are places
where you must show the work that you did to reach the answer to a problem.
Online Note: There
are several ways that you can do this action. If you have Word 2007 or newer
version(s), you can use the equation editor located under the Insert tab. If
you have a digital camera or a cell phone with a camera, you can take a picture
of your handwritten work, upload it to your computer, and from there,
submit it. You can scan your handwritten work into your computer and
submit it. Finally, only if none of the other methods work for you, you can
type directly from the keyboard using parentheses, carats, and other symbols to
delineate the pieces of your answers.
