Module 4 DQ 1
Analysts are often presented data mining tasks with
large amounts of data and little direction regarding what to find. Typically,
the analyst is asked to "look at the data to find the cost-saving
opportunities." What are some simple steps to take to begin this process
when there is no clear idea of what to look for? Why will these steps work?
Support your position.
Module 4 DQ 2
Some estimates state that 70%-80% of data are
unstructured and therefore were previously unusable before big data
technologies such as Hadoop. Suppose an algorithm was developed, using only
structured data, that can identify patients who are highly likely to re-admit
into a hospital after discharge within 30 days. How can unstructured data be
used to improve the algorithm's performance? Does it make sense to combine the
two data structures into a single algorithm? If so, how can this be done. If
not, why not?
