At Grand Canyon University (GCU), the proposed dissertation
topic must align to the degree field and program of study of the doctoral
learner so that the scientific knowledge of that field can be advanced by the

Assessment Description
Understanding the fundamental nature of research and
differentiating between qualitative and quantitative research methods and
designs are foundational skills for doctoral researchers. In this assignment,
you will complete several online mini-courses that present an introduction to
these methodological approaches.

- Refer to the Residency Ready materials in the DC Network

Directions:
Part 1
Access the Research Ready mini-courses on the CIRT
site at https://cirt.gcu.edu/research/develop/research_ready and
complete all modules of the following mini-courses:
- Introduction
to Research
- Qualitative
Research Methods
- Quantitative
Research
You may repeat any of the mastery quizzes as many
times as you like. However, to receive full points for this assignment, all
mastery quizzes must have a score of at least 85%. Submitting a completion
certificate with a score of less than 85% will result in a deduction of points.
Take a screen shot of each completion certificate and
paste the screen shots into a Word document.
Submit the Word document with the screen shots.
Part 2
Access the Residency Ready materials on the DC Network
at https://dc.gcu.edu/residency/residency_ready.
Complete the Residency Ready modules. These will help
you establish a framework for completing your own original research. At the end
of the modules, you will need to complete the assessment and receive a minimum
grade of 85%. You may take the assessment as many times as you need to achieve
the 85% minimum score required.
Upload your completion certificate in the assignment
drop box.

Assessment Description
The first Residency is a series of intense working
sessions in which doctoral learners hone and defend their proposed dissertation
topics. In this assignment, you will locate and submit several components of
the dissertation that you should have already drafted.
General Requirements:

to any dissertation artifacts drafted in previous courses.
- Locate
the assignment resource "Pre-Residency: Dissertation Deliverable
Assignment Template" attached to this assignment.
- This
assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the
assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful
completion.
- Doctoral
learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. The
APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center.
- Refer
to the Publication
Manual of the American Psychological Association for
specific guidelines related to doctoral level writing. The manual contains
essential information on manuscript structure and content, clear and
concise writing, and academic grammar and usage.
- This
assignment requires that at least two additional scholarly research
sources related to this topic, and at least one in-text citation from each
source be included.
- You
are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the
