One of your patients is a 5 year old boy who was diagnosed with leukemia 3 months ago. Although he is receiving excellent care by a pediatric hematologist/oncologist, his parents trust you since you have taken care of him since he was born. They are very anxious and have many questions

·         Explain which type of leukemia he is most likely to have, its pathophysiology, how he contracted it, and his prognosis.

·         Discuss treatment options for this child with your colleagues.

·         Include how you will teach the parents about their role in his care.

·         Cite current research findings, national guidelines, and expert opinions and controversies found in the medical and nursing literature to support your position.
